One for the Books!

On February 9th, the Library Foundation for Sarasota County held their very first online event - Love Our Libraries: A Virtual Celebration with Author Susan Orlean. The event, shot and produced by our team at DreamLarge, tells the story of our library system and everything it's done to support the community over 2020 and beyond.

We are eternally grateful and excited to have worked on such a meaningful project alongside the exceptional, lively and creative leaders of the Library Foundation. Together, we were able to positively impact the library system that serves us all so well.

Watch the Show!

The free event celebrated all the ways our public libraries have helped our community over the past year and featured an engaging interview between author Susan Orlean and our community's own Charlie Huisking discussing Orlean’s “The Library Book.”

Do You Love Your Library?

Show your love by participating in the Library Foundation's
$30,000 Challenge Match!

Sarasota County Libraries have worked tirelessly to develop new programs and innovative ways to ensure we all have access to the resources and support we need. Now it's our turn to support the needs of the libraries!

That's why we're challenging YOU and everyone in the community to participate in LFSC's challenge match, where each and every donation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $30,000.

Your donations will:

  1. Increase the libraries' digital resources which are so critical in a time of remote learning
  2. Provide support for innovative programs & initiatives to reach and serve more residents
  3. Support the Foundation's advocacy efforts for strong & sustained public funding for our libraries

Volunteer as an Energy Coach!

Join the movement to help Sarasota become more equitable and sustainable.

Our friends at UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County are looking for volunteers to help teach low-income residents how to save energy, water and money at home! As an "Energy Coach" you have the opportunity to educate underserved populations on the social, environmental and economic benefits of sustainability while using you skills to further our community's movement toward a greener future.

If you're interested in becoming an Energy Coach, register for the upcoming UF/IFAS information session, which includes training on home energy systems, energy and water saving techniques and more.
